The real transaction limits

The current governing rule is a special provision under Presidential Decree No. 35947 (effective January 2, 2026), Article 10-2. It sets two limits for the instant, at-register refund:

• A single transaction must be under 1,000,000 KRW to qualify for the immediate deduction.
• Your total refunded amount across a visit is capped at 5,000,000 KRW.

Older claims floating around about a specific minimum purchase amount for this scheme aren’t reflected in the current article — don’t plan your shopping around a number you haven’t confirmed with the store directly.

It’s not K-pop-specific

This is the standard tax-free retail scheme, not something unique to K-pop stores. It applies broadly to eligible tax-free retailers, and most major record shops and merch stores selling to tourists participate — but confirm the specific store is registered before you assume the discount applies.
