Hongik University Station is one of Seoul’s busiest transfer points, sitting on Line 2, the Airport Railroad (AREX), and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line. That makes it a convenient place to drop your bags — and also one of the first locker banks to fill up on a busy day.
Finding the lockers
Look for signage reading “Locker” or “물품보관함” (mulpum-bogwanham) near the station’s main transfer corridors. The largest concentration sits close to Exit 9 and along the passage that connects to the AREX platforms, since that’s the route most travelers with luggage are already walking.
Size tiers and what actually fits
T-Locker banks are split into small, medium, and large compartments:
- Small — a day bag, backpack, or shopping bag.
- Medium — a standard carry-on suitcase.
- Large — a full-size checked suitcase (around 28 inches), though it’s a snug fit. If you’re carrying two large bags, plan on renting two lockers.
Payment runs through the kiosk screen, which has an English option, and accepts card payment — you don’t need exact cash the way you sometimes do for subway top-ups.
If the bank is full
Weekends and holiday afternoons are when Hongdae’s lockers run out first. Before you make the trip specifically to store bags, check the T-Locker app, which shows live availability by station so you’re not walking over on a gamble. If the whole bank is genuinely full, the fallback is one of the private luggage storage counters operating above ground near the station’s main exits — slightly more expensive than a T-Locker, but they don’t run out the same way.
